Forestry Mulching in Chattanooga
Forestry mulching is the fastest way to reclaim overgrown land. A mulching head on a tracked machine cuts brush and trees and grinds them into a layer of mulch that stays on the ground to hold soil in place — no burn piles, no dump trucks.
Forestry Mulching services include
- Underbrush and privet removal
- Kudzu, briar and vine-covered ground

Why mulching instead of traditional clearing?
Traditional clearing pushes everything into piles that then have to be burned or hauled. Mulching does the cutting, grinding and spreading in one step, which usually means a lower cost per acre on brushy land, far less ground disturbance and a mulch layer that helps control erosion — a real advantage on the hills and ridges around Chattanooga.
What can a mulcher handle?
Brush, saplings, privet, honeysuckle, cedars and trees up to roughly 6–8 inches in diameter are ideal. Larger trees can be felled and mulched too, though they take more time. Stumps are ground to around ground level; if you need stumps fully removed for construction, combine mulching with lot clearing.
Is mulching right for building sites?
Mulching is perfect for opening land, creating views and maintaining property. For a foundation footprint, the mulch and remaining roots usually need to be scraped away during grading. Many projects mulch the whole property and then do full clearing and grading only where the house, drive and septic will go.
Forestry Mulching FAQ
How much land can be mulched in a day?
It depends on density, but a crew can often mulch from half an acre to a couple of acres per day in typical East Tennessee brush.
Will the mulch kill the grass or plants?
A thick layer will suppress regrowth for a while, which is often the goal. Grass and ground cover typically return through thinner areas within a season or two.
Does mulching remove stumps?
Stumps are ground down close to grade. For full stump and root removal, ask about our lot clearing and stump removal services.
